Cooper Claridge-Ware Names New Chief Executive Officer
Cooper, Claridge-Ware Limited (CCW), a leading international health insurance brokerage headquartered in Hong Kong, has today announced the appointment of Christopher Claridge-Ware as the company’s new Chief Executive Officer.
Mr Claridge-Ware is stepping into the role following the departure of former CEO, Piccolo Woo, from the company.
Christopher Claridge-Ware brings a wealth of experience to CCW’s upper management team and his transition from company Director to CEO will enable CCW to continue providing peerless levels of support and service to international private medical insurance customers around the world.
Starting his career with Friends Provident & Century Life in 1972, Christopher then joined the private client department of Schroder's Assurance and Investment Holdings before becoming a part of the Bupa Corporate Sales team in 1982.
In 1985 Christopher left Bupa to form, in partnership, one of the United Kingdom’s first private medical insurance brokerages, which was eventually sold. A consulting role at Towers Perrin Forster and Crosby (now Towers Watson) followed before forming a new medical insurance brokerage in 1990. This company was sold in 2002 and Christopher was named Joint Managing Director, and later Chief Executive, of the organization; which remains one of the United Kingdom’s leading employee benefits companies.
Christopher has, during the course of his career, held Control Functions CF1, CF2, CF3 and CF8 as an authorised person under the Financial Services Authority (FSA), as well as being an approved person for both the Guernsey Financial Services Commission and the Jersey Financial Services Commission.
After a brief sabbatical in 2009, Christopher took the position of Sales Manager with Bupa in Hong Kong during 2011. Following a successful 18 month stint with the insurer Christopher formed Cooper, Claridge-Ware at the end of 2012 with Sam Cooper.
Following the announcement of Christopher’s move to CCW’s Chief Executive Position, Sam Cooper said “I am delighted Christopher has agreed to hold the post of Chief Executive for our brokerage and this is very positive news for both our staff and customers.”
Furthermore, Christopher added to this statement, “I am delighted to be able to take this role within Cooper Claridge-Ware and to hold the licence approved by our regulator, the Professional Insurance Brokers Association who have been very helpful and supportive to us”
